In January, finally taking the ‘pre-diabetic’ diagnosis of August seriously, I made 2 health resolutions for 2015---to get off sugar and to increase my exercise level by walking 2 miles 4 times a week and I got a video to help with that. I was faithful at the walking until one night in mid-February when I tripped on the stairs and fell, cracking my forehead very hard on the cement floor. I am not sure if I wrote you about this or not. Anyway, it didn’t knock me out but I had a huge lump, bruised forehead and bad headaches for over a week, along with a bruised and tender foot. All non-mandatory exercise stopped and I just haven’t been motivated to get in the “just-do-it” groove again.
Feeling overwhelmed by everything and unable to think of anything interesting or inspiring to say, remembering the wise advise of Bambi’s mother, I avoided my computer altogether, charged up my Kindle and went on an extended reading binge—OK, there were some Snickers bars in there as well. Yes, I admit it, escaping from stress in some very unhealthy but familiar ways. However, one small ray of hope, I have cut down to 1 cup of coffee in the mornings and am using Birch Xylitol instead of sugar. Still using milk though--just can’t handle black at this point…and maybe never.
