Wow, I have really run into snags with the Skype connections. Either I am travelling or the place I am staying does not have Wi-Fi.
It has been…wait for the word…disappointing. But, on the other hand, I am finding myself very busy since I got a vehicle on 2nd July and have not made time to sit and reflect a top priority. I do recognize that this is not a good thing.
The week-long visit with my friend Kathy in Idaho went very well. Another friend, DeLoa, was joining us for part of the week and I am so thankful that our 3 days together went well. Both Kathy & DeLoa read through my LDC journal and asked questions/gave input and we had a time of prayer together one evening. DeLoa volunteered that she wants to stay in touch more consistently and that was encouraging.
This week on Tuesday & Wednesday I went with Elsie & Ursula Frank on an overnight trip to Mount St. Helen to visit the site of the 1980 volcano eruption and the museum they have built there. These sisters are about my age and I have wanted to have a relationship with them since we attended the same church back in the 1970’s. Their family immigrated to Mombasa from India when they were very small and then after their father died, they came to the U.S. so they are so much in touch with the cultural things that I experience on the field and we really enjoy one another.
They had asked me to share about my time in Zambia so I took my notes and journal and Wednesday morning after breakfast we were able to sit in the hotel for several hours and share some of the highlights of what God did with/in me during that time. It was a wonderful time of debriefing and deepening our relationship.
Then yesterday my sister Heather came to stay with me for the weekend. This will be the first time we have spent time alone together in 50 years and I am so glad that God is drawing us together on a spiritual level as well as a family level. This afternoon we are driving north to visit her daughter Adele. She and her husband are believers now and so we can all enjoy true fellowship. I am really looking forward to the afternoon! Then tomorrow morning I will take Heather back to home and will attend church with her.
