The Census taker team arrived this morning at about 10 and fortunately, all 7 of us were home. I mentioned to the female team member that I had been concerned about them coming at night and she said “come to this area at night? Never!”
My fridge has been functioning below par for several days, I know it is on because I can hear the motor running, but it isn’t keeping anything cold. I finally had Fred pull it away from the wall, thinking perhaps a rat was eating at the wiring but we found the problem to actually be the Fridge Guard. I have had this surge protector since 2005, so I guess it is done for. We removed the Fridge Guard and plugged the fridge straight into the socket until tomorrow when Fred can go into town and buy a new one. If there is a power cut during the day I can run and unplug the fridge, but at night… I am praying that there is no power cut during the night, which is always followed by a power surge.
Our underground water storage tank emptied 2 days ago but we still have the 2 above ground plastic water storage tanks for back up and are carrying buckets of water for in house use. I confess I can't carry too many 5 gallon buckets up 14 steps before I give out, so I usually ask Fred to do that for me.
All 3 tanks need to be empty before I can call and order a fresh water delivery. Also, this time around, before the water truck comes Fred has to go into the underground tank and clean out all of the dirt, leaves etc, that have come off of the roof terrace along with the rainwater. Not a quick job!
