I haven’t touched my computer for the past 3 weeks due to illness. I was hit with quite a strong and strange malaria, in fact at first Ang’ullo thought it was Dengue Fever. For 3 weeks I slept a lot, didn’t eat much because nothing would stay down and didn’t even think about my computer, let alone boot up for e-mail. I became really dehydrated and had to have a couple litres of saline by IV. Christine & Fridah came to stay with me at night and take care of me, which was such a blessing. The silver lining of this time is that I lost almost 12 pounds 😊
I am slowly on the mend and feeling stronger day by day. I haven’t been out of my compound since 24th May but I am meeting Karen in town on Tuesday hoping to get details about the brief e-mail she sent while I was sick and unable to communicate. It sounds like she and Masai are going to stay in U.K. indefinitely—they are looking for somewhere to live. This was quite a shock as no one mentioned anything about it before—at least that I remember.
I am trying not to think about it until I get the complete picture from Karen on Tuesday but I confess I am feeling a bit like another rug is being pulled from under my feet. Karen and I have worked together in Mombasa Base leadership for 13 years.
